Cassidy is back with a brand new gauntlet of bars with Mayhem Music AP3 (Apply Pressure 3) hosted by DJ Thoro. This is the 3rd release from the Apply Pressure series started in 2009. Since his arrival, he’s always been able to spit some of the most unforgettable lines over tracks or in battles, vicious or in the club. The thing about a talent as pure and unbridled as his is it’s tough to compliment. In order to fully appreciate Cass’ ability you need to examine the conditions. The Apply Pressure Series has done just that in complimenting his growth as an artist. One thing you notice right away is how cohesive the songs are. Standouts are aplenty on this one as this release delivers what we’ve come to expect from the Da Hustla, BARS. The album launches an explosive first step with Aint Gonna Happen. The track bangs that street flow urgency over signature hustla venom, no hooks, reminiscent of Let Me Hear Something. Another sure shot is the creative Do it Big feat a sample off a freestyle from his top gun Chubby Jag. Narcotics for Sale puts him over a hard track with the tapes co-star Chubby Jag, who manages to keep pace with Cass’ fierce elite level punch line flow. We saw glimpses of Jag’s brilliance since the first tape and he continues to amaze. Interestingly Cass makes his best music when you strip away the “mix tape” element absorb the completeness of his core artistry. Mayhem Music, which coincidentally is produced by the hustla himself, hits the hardest reminding listeners how playing both sides of the ball comes natural to star player. The track is pure Cass in top form showcasing his production ability and rhyme skills adding more weight to his chain. The production is a mix of different sounds from new to seasoned vets like T Dot and Duane DaRock. Mayhem Music finishes with Cass doing what he does and that’s absolutely tear the head off your favorite rappers songs with freestyles of Chief Keef, Future and Cashout’s current hits. The tape did include I Get it In released earlier this year and closes retrospectively with God Is so Good to Me. Da hustla gives thanks and is reflective paying homage to the father. He is a proven master at blending power pain and pleasure in music and this tape proves it fittingly.
